Twenty Women And Children Rescued From The Dreaded Sambisa Forest


Another twenty women and children were rescued from the dreaded Sambisa forest on Saturday in a fresh military operation, a stronghold of the Boko Haram terrorist group.

Confirming this, the Defence spokesperson, Chris Olukolade, in a statement said the women and children were airlifted out of the forest while, they lost a soldier and several were wounded.

“Some equipment were also damaged or affected by the detonation of land mines in several points in the forest. An armored tank and over 10 vehicles of various types being used for their operations as well as 70 motorcycles and 15 tricycles of the terrorists also perished during the operation,” Mr. Olukolade said.

Scores of terrorists were killed during the operation with several weapons recovered, including two major ammunition dumps maintained by the terrorists in the forest were destroyed. Four additional terrorists’ camps were smashed in the operation as well.

He said air and artillery bombardment of identified terrorist camps and locations in various aspect of the forest were ongoing as troops continued the offensive against terrorists in the forest.
