Another mass casualty has been averted in Jos, Plateau State, as an office assistant serving with a magistrate court helped avert a bomb blast in the early hour of Tuesday being the 14th of July, 2015.
This was confirmed by the Police Public Relations officer in Jos, Abuh Emmanuel, who cautioned citizens to be very much aware of the happenings around them.
According to premium times, Mr. Emmanuel denied that it was an explosive device but commended the staff who found the device. The staff who would rather remain anonymous, said she was preparing the office for the day’s job when she saw a large envelope. By the time she revealed what was in the envelop, she had to call on the attention of the security personnel’s who identified the device as a bomb which was already set to detonate at a particular time.
The incident stalled the court’s proceedings as plaintiffs, complainants and court attendants deserted the court’s premises.
The police anti-bomb squad at the “B/Division” police office Bukuru, were invited to defuse and evacuate the device.
This is a similar event to what happened on Sunday, when a security guard found an explosive device and took precise action before it detonated thereby minimizing the harm the bomb would have caused.
