An Abuja bound Aero Contractors flight from Lagos was forced to make an air return after one of the plane’s tire burst during take off.
According to a statement from the General Managaer, Public Affairs of The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Fan Ndubuoke, the aircraft which took off from the Murtala Muhammed Airport Domestic Terminal (MMA2) at about 3p.m. to Abuja Lagos developed technical problem and made an air return as the normal procedure.
Their were 141 passenger on board. Some were transferred to another aircraft while many others demanded a refund of their plane fare.
Speaking to the press, Ndubuoke said “The pilot did the right thing by not trying to abort the take off. He controlled the airplane into the air and following all trained procedures, he brought the plane back to a safe landing.
“At no time during all of these were the passengers lives at any risk,” statement from the airline said.
This is the 2nd time this year an Aero Plane has been involved in some incident. In June, an Aero plane also developed a technical problem midair and was forced to make an emergency landing.
