Wizkid’s ‘Ayo’ Album Listed as One of Rolling Stone’s “15 Great Albums You Didn’t Hear in 2014″

Looks like things are looking great for WizKid as his album, Ayo, has been listed in Rolling Stone‘s website as one of the “15 Great Albums You Didn’t Hear in 2014”.

In the piece, which was written by Brandon Geist, they state that

Nigerian rapper Wizkid prepped its follow-up with three years of irresistible features and unstoppable club bangers. Arriving in September, Ayo placed the biggest of the latter alongside new tracks that grab slang from Jamaica and salute women with a “bum bum bigger than Bombay.” Throughout, the 24-year-old uses deft, nimble flows to glide over complex beats and he writes hooks that will keep you humming for weeks.

Now I’m not entirely sure why WizKid is called a rapper in the piece (I’m sure some naija hip-hop cats will be offended), but nonetheless it’s a good look for WizKid. Some international recognition, and pretty soon we might get to hear WizKid is the international airwaves on a constant basis.

WizKid’s album hit #1 on the iTunes world chart barely 24 hours after it was released.
