Three years after winning the inaugural edition of Mr. Universe Nigeria, Allen Ukwuru, is yet to get his prizes as promised by the organizers of the male pageant. Allen reigned as Mr Universe Nigeria in 2012.

In an exclusive chat with Naij.com, Allen had this to say; “some cash prizes were paid, in terms of payment for shows and event I have gone for. The organizers promised me a car and  250,000 cash prize, some brand endorsement, travelling, also represent Nigeria at some world pageants. They are giving excuses that their sponsors didn’t come through, so most of what they promised, they were unable to redeem.”

“I don’t know what to say, maybe they were able to get the cars they booked for the second and third editions of the pageant but mine didn’t come through. I don’t really know why.”

He further revealed that he feels cheated as the organizers did not take him around as the winner for that year, instead the 1st runner up was taken around to attend shows.

“The 1st runner up, I don’t know about how they have been taking him around, but I know that he has a good relationship with organizers. So if through that means, the organization feel he is better, that’s their decision.”

“I was also unable to represent Nigeria at world event because of logistic issues. Together we sought for sponsorship together but it didn’t come through.”

Efforts to speak with the organizers of the pageant were unsuccessful, as calls placed to one of the organizer who simply gave his name as Robert was interrupted. He however said his organization gave Allen his cash prize but would not confirm if Allen got the car that came along with his winning.
