In a bid to raise awareness of the plight of internally displaced persons in Nigeria, music legend and African icon 2Baba, yesterday, July 18, 2017 visited an IDP camp in Ngala/Gamboru in Borno State to support the work of UNHCR in the protection of (IDPs) and refugee returnees to Nigeria’s north east.
During his visit, he was also awarded a Humanitarian award by Brigadier General Ochayi. He is the first musician to receive the award.
Using his resources and popularity 2Baba is bringing attention and raising funds to assist millions of Nigerians who are currently living in unsuitable conditions in several IDP camps across the country. Early this year, The 2Face Foundation, founded by 2Baba partnered with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to help raise funds and awareness for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Nigeria.
Committed to providing help and inspiring other well meaning Nigerians, 2Baba kicked off the partnership with a donation of 3.5 Million Naira through The 2Face Foundation and he also released a conscious record titled Hold My Hand which passes the message of showing compassion to one another. He has also pledged to donate 60% of the proceeds from the song and the forth coming Eargasm Special IDP Charity Edition to support the efforts of UNHCR.
Eargasm Charity IDP Edition comes up on Saturday, July 22, 2017, and it is co-headlined by super vocalist and gifted musicians Waje, Kelly Hansome, Styl Plus as well as a special guest appearance by music legend Bongos Ikwue. The concert holds at the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton Abuja.
