First Reactions To Reekado Banks’s Debut Album, Spotlight

In the span of 2 years, Reekado Banks has gone from the new Mavin guy singing the bridge on Dorobucci, to dropping one of the most anticipated albums of 2016, Spotlight. But it wasn’t only because he’s the hot new kid on the block that the album was anticipated.

Earlier this year, Reekado Banks won the Headies Next Rated award (controversially) but that put him in a certain class of artists. Among the past winners of this award are Wizkid, Davido, Patoranking, Wande Coal, and Omawumi. So you see, the expectations that come with winning that award has pretty big history.

Reekado is also the first of the Mavin 2.0 crew to drop a full-fledged album. While Dija & Korede Bello haven’t projected any moves to put out an album (they might do soon), Reeky has put himself out there as the breakout star from the label.

On first listen, you have to say that album is at the minimum worth the spend. We’ll put out a review very soon, so not to worry. Stand out tracks on the album right now are Biggy Man & Problem. But took a bit of a pulse on social media to see how folks are reacting the album that just dropped today.

Not everyone was feeling it though. Some are already expressing their displeasure.

But for the most part, it’s been positive

…and of course the joker lol.
