Billboard Top 15 Sub-Saharan African Artists: Burna Boy’s Numbers Outweighs Wizkid, Davido, Yemi Alade, Others


Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu professionally known as Burna Boy, has emerged “most streamed artiste” in Africa’s Sub-Saharan region as published by Billboard.

The afropop star, beats heavyweights and country counterparts, Davido, Wizkid, Yemi Alade, others with wide margins.

With Burna’s 435.57 million streams, Diamond Platnumz, Davido, Fally Ipupa and, Wizkid trail behind with 291.98, 285.76, 186.5 and, 186.5 million streams respectively.


Nigerian acts are making bold statements as they topped the fifteen-artiste list by Billboard.

Burna Boy, Davido, Wizkid, Teknomiles, Mr Eazi, Flavour, Sinach, Yemi Alade and, Joeboy all made the list.

Nine Nigerians made the list leaving six spots for other African entertainers.


Few weeks back, the internet space was agog with the comparison of Burna Boy versus Wizkid and Davido.

The outburst started when the former (Burna) question why Davido would release an album the same time as him. Fans reacted but it did not favor Burna Boy.

JAGUDA also published a short video of how Apples’ Siri, reacted to the comparison between Davido and Burna Boy.

However, with these new numbers, bragging rights may have returned to the Odogwu singer, a title, controversial and old time artiste, Eedris Abdulkareem, claimed to have stripped off Burna.
