Superstar Nigerian musicians, Wizkid, FireBoy DML, Ckay, Tems, alongside Goyamenor and Nektunez are currently dominating this week’s World Digital Song Sales on the Billboard Charts.
The World Digital Song Sales, published by Billboard magazine is a weekly record chart compiled by Nielsen SoundScan. It is used to rank the best-selling digital singles in the world music genre.
Moving from the huge success they made internationally last year, this crop of artists have taken the same energy into the new year.
The top songs for the week are “Ameno Amapiano” by Goyamenor and Nektunez, Ckay’s “Love Nwantiti (Ah Ah Ah), Wizkid’s “Essence (remix)” featuring Justin Bieber and Tems, FireBoy and Ed Sheeran’s “Peru (remix)“, Moreart featuring IHI “Ya Budu Ebat.'”
While the number one to four spots are dominated by Nigerians, Goyamenor and Nektunez’s “Ameno Amapiano” is currently enjoying its second week at number one.
Last year, Ckay’s Love Nwantiti (Ah Ah Ah) and Wizkid’s “Essence” featuring Justin Bieber and Tems not only did great numbers on the Billboards, but their songs also broke new records on other top-ranking charts.
Wizkid’s international strides last year has made him a strong contender in this Year’s Grammy Awards.
Fireboy DML on the other hand did not allow his smash single “Peru” to go to waste as he took it up a notch by featuring superstar English singer, Ed Sheeran on the remix. This single act has set him apart for greater things this year.
