American fashion and culture magazine based in Hollywood, Los Angeles, has announced DMW chief Davido, as its cover for their latest edition.
Being the 175th issue, the magazine announced the new development via Instagram.
They described Davido as “most streamed artist out of Africa”. They went on to mention a few of his achievements.
“Musician @Davido covers issue #175 in and around Atlanta. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“Davido is the most streamed artist out of Africa and the record-breaker for the most streamed video out of Nigeria, among other milestones. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“His most recent record, ‘A Better Time’, hit over 100 million streams in just three days upon release across all streaming platforms.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“Speaking on his nickname The King of Afrobeats, Davido remarks, “Over time we’ve been working hard, delivering hits, really pushing the culture to the Western world. I remember, in 2015, when I first signed my deal, African music wasn’t really accepted. I remember being in the room telling them, ‘Yo, this genre’s going to be hot! It’s the next thing coming.’ They looked at me like I was crazy. Five years later, it’s one of the biggest genres in the world.”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
