The Federal Government of Nigeria has moved in swiftly to enact disciplinary measures against airline defaulting on the lockdown directives.
Yesterday, June 14, Nigerians reacted with outrage as Naira Marley headlined a concert in Abuja. The controversial musician and BBNaija Kim Oprah flew into Abuja from Lagos on a private jet for the concert breaching interstate lockdown directives.
Following the flagrant disobedience of the Federal Government directives Jabi Lake Mall, Abuja venue of the event was shutdown for two weeks by Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).
The Federal Government also suspended the airline that flew Naira Marley and co. from Lagos to Abuja. This was first reported by Channels TV.
During the daily briefing Presidential Taskforce on Covid-19, the Minister of Aviation Hadi Sirika said ExecuJet the company that flew Naira Marley to Abuja has been suspended indefinitely.
According to Sirika the flight that conveyed Naira Marley to Lagos was approved for a different purpose of moving a serving Judge from Lagos to Abuja and back.
The minister also told the presidential taskforce that besides the indefinite suspension, ExecuJet operations were slammed with a fine. Also the crew members for that flight would be punished according to the law for giving misleading information.
