The most anticipated music awards show, the #14th Headies 2020 is finally here.
Although this year’s edition is virtual due to covid-19 complications, it is in no way less intriguing as previous editions.
As in previous editions the next rated category is a big talking point and we are here for the intrigues.
This year it looks like a tight contest between Omah lay and Bella Shmurda for the next rated award but, there’s no ruling out Tems and Oxlade who are also nominees in the category.
We are right here at the La Campagne Tropicana Beach Resort in Ibeju-lekki, (virtually) and we will be keeping you updated as events unfold.
The hosts for this year’s red carpet are Relax and Riya, while the hosts for the main event are Bovi and Nancy Isime.
At the moment the red carpet is currently underway and a couple of celebrities can be seen so far
Relax, one of the hosts is dressed in an interesting outfit, a suit with what seems to be a sash across the front of the ensemble, while co-host Riya is dressed in a lovely flowing gold colored number, she looks dashing.
Instagram comedian brodda shaggi walks the red carpet pausing for a moment to speak to the camera, he urges people to stay home and stay safe.
Rookie of the year nominee Bad boy Timz wearing a suit with a baseball hat to match is spotted chatting with host Riya, Timz feels really confident and makes a bold assertion telling the host He is sure to win the ‘rookie of the year’ award.
Contender for the most coveted category Bella Shmurda comes through spotting a Louis Vuitton jacket and a bucket hat, when asked about the Next rated He says it’s all good even if he doesnt win. ‘I just came here to chill, I didnt’t came for the award, Life doesnt stop here’ He says.
The Headies is currently experiencing technical inconsistency, but the show must go on.
There’s currently no audio on the live show. Quite an embarrassing moment. As expected, viewers don’t seem to be very pleased and express their frustrations on twitter

The stage is set and the first set of performers are doing their thing. They’re doing a choreography of Fela’s socially conscious song titled, “Zombie” alongside other songs.
The choreographers are currently performing to Timi Dakolo’s patriotic anthem titled “Great Nation.”
Ace Nigerian comedian, Bovi and popular OAP, Nancy Isime are your hosts for tonight.
Topping the list of nominations is YBNL’s Fireboy with 8 Nods, followed by Wizkid and Burna Boy 6 nods each.

Category for the best RnB single. And the winner is FireBoy DML. Fireboy thanks his team and everyone pushing Afrobeats around the world.
Winner for ‘Recording of the Year’ goes to Brymo for his track “Ozymandias.”
Best music video goes to Director K for his work on Davido’s “One Milli.”
Award for Producer of the Year goes to Pheelz for his work on Teni’s track “Billionaire.”
Best vocalist performance (female) goes to Niniola for her infectious tune titled “Addicted.”
Ghanaian dancehall and reggae singer, Stonebwoy takes the stage, by proxy.
Chike takes the stage to perform songs from his critically acclaimed debut album, “Boo of the Booless” album.

Best street hop artist goes to DMW wonder boy, Mayorkun for his widely accepted single titled “Geng.”
Olakira takes the stage with his groundbreaking single, Maserati.

Winner for “Best Pop Single” goes to DJ Neptune for his collaborative single “Nobody” featuring Joeboy and Mr Eazi.
Following his win, he takes the stage with Joeboy and Laycon to share an electrifying performance.
Winner for ‘Best Collaboration’ goes to ladiPoe for his sensational song titled “Know You” featuring Simi.
Taking the stage next his Highlife band The Cavemen. Performance started a little shaky but it ended well.
Bovi and Nancy take the stage and Bovi is showering Wizkid with praises. While making jokes, Bovi attributes Duncan Mighty and Tiwa Savage’s success to Wizkid.
Falz wins “Best Rap Single” for his single “Bop Daddy” featuring Ms Banks.
Fireboy wins his second award for the night, edging out heavy contenders to clinch “Best RnB Album.”
Master KG joined the show by proxy performing his chart-topping single “Jerusalema.”
Fireboy follows by taking the center stage, performing some of his popular songs.
The Cavemen win “Best Alternative Album.”
Omah Lay wins the highly coveted “Next Rated” award.
