Vocal Slender: World’s Lyrically Acclaimed Scavenger!

Vocal SlenderRemember Vocal Slender from Episode 1 of BBC’s “Welcome to Lagos” documentary? If you don’t, then you are seriously on a long thing! Vocal Slender, born Eric Obuh, was a scavenger at the Ojota refuse dump. He earned a living by rummaging through trash and selling items he was able to salvage. For Eric, this was merely a means to an end. His true passion was MUSIC! He had big dreams of becoming a “vocal slender, lyrical inspector”! In the BBC documentary, Eric was featured recording his single “Owo Yapa”, and saving up money to buy new clothes and take photos for his album cover. Eric showed that in order to get where you want to be in life, you have to capitalize on whatever cards life deals to you and make the most out of every situation. Against all odds, Eric has fulfilled his lifelong dream, not only on a national level, but on a global scale. His debut album “Send Them Come” is available on iTunes for download. Songs start at just $0.99 each. I previewed his album, and I was really impressed – it’s a fusion of smooth vocals with Dancehall/Reggae/Ajegunle-inspired beats, and lyrics that echo his life and struggle in Nigeria.
