The twelve-track album, which is a fusion of different genres including soul, R&B, hip hop, gospel, and rock, is Mali’s first album released after a partnership between his record label, K Approved Enterprises, and RCA Inspiration.
“The Book of Mali,” also comes 9 years after his exit from Akon’s imprint, Konvict Musik.
His new body of work gives listeners a chance to experience Mali’s musical transition, as he provides them the opportunity to go through the album like a book.
“I spent a lot of time with the words and I believe all of the songs are going to invoke the response, ‘He is different, Mali is growing’. I am encouraging people to go through the album like a book. It has one title, one thesis, but several strands to the story. It’s like healing, in the form of a book,” Mali said.
Enjoy and be blessed.
