Bubbling Under | Soto – Hustle

Check out upcoming artist, Soto, and his tune Hustle. Definitely enjoyed listening to this on first listen, and you would too. Something to add to that playlist for real.

“Hustle” is the second single by Nigerian rapper and songwriter Soto, off his debut album, “Magnum Opus”. It was produced by Beats by Blayze, with additional production by Reflex Sounds. Hustle is an upbeat, hip-hop street-banger, on which Soto attempts to show his maturity over time not just as a writer, but also as an individual for whom music has become a life source. Produced by longtime collaborator Blayze, Hustle illustrates the travails and fears of a young up-and-comer in an industry without a platform on which to make himself heard. It takes a shot at those already in the industry who lack the essentials for making good music, while making clear his intentions and mapping his designs for conquering the industry.

Soto’s first single, Gimme More, which was released late 2010, has enjoyed massive rotation on the Abuja radio circuit, and is set to do the same in the Lagos.

Artist Information

Soto (full name Soto Nwobbi) is a Nigerian rapper/songwriter and music entrepreneur. Born on the 26th of April in Owerri, Imo State, he moved to the coal city of Enugu with his family at the age of four, where he lived for a few years before relocating to Abuja where he resided until just recently moving to Lagos in order to push and promote his music. Soto’s affair with music started off in high school, where he started writing and rhyming for fun, counting on the likes of Nas, Styles P, and Jadakiss for inspiration. He decided to make music his hustle in university, where he teamed up with a couple of friends to start up the group ‘GSC’. This was short-lived however, leaving him with the decision to pursue his chosen career path alone. While in school, Soto performed in numerous school shows and event, garnering popularity and a fan base which strengthened his conviction and fuelled his drive to actualize the goals he had set for himself. In 2007, after deciding to take his destiny in his own hands, Soto, along with Ottih Chikezie (Real Talk) and Uche Enyi (Jablo), founded EON Entertainment, an independent record label and entertainment company to which he became the first signed artist.

Soto’s third single, “What If?”, is due to be released later this year, with the album expected to drop in the first quarter of 2012.
