Nigerian afro-folk artist Johnny Drille has unveiled his new single ‘Loving Is Harder’.
Highlighting the dynamics of a dysfunctional relationship, ‘Loving Is Harder’ is a heart-on-sleeve ballad, combining a glorious pairing of delicate piano chords, with Johnny’s impassioned vocals. ‘Loving Is Harder’ will also feature on his hotly anticipated debut album Before We Fall Asleep, out 3rd September via Mavin Records.
Citing the likes of Ed Sheeran, Coldplay, Jon Bellion, Asa, MI and Don Jazzy as influences, Johnny is best known for the 2016 single ‘Wait For Me’ and 2018’s ‘Halleluya’, a collaboration with Afro-pop singer Simi. That same year he hosted his debut concert series Johnny’s Room Live, with 4500 fans present across two shows held in Nigeria’s landmark cities Lagos and Abuja. Throughout last year, Johnny released previous singles ‘Mystery Girl’ and ‘Something Better’ and kickstarted his 2021 with the release of ‘Bad Dancer’.
The final single ahead of the release of Before We Fall Asleep, ‘Loving Is Harder’ is an exploration of Johnny’s vulnerability as an artist.
