LIST: Top Projects to Look Out For in 2022

It’s been a week into 2022 and you might agree that we have settled in quite well. This year has great promises for Nigerian Music as well as greater heights. And while we can’t wait for all that glory, there are number of projects we can’t wait to get in 2022. And they hold a lot of Promise! Here is our list of the most promising projects for 2022. In no particular order, enjoy!

Chike – “The Brother’s Keeper” 

Music star, Chike has revealed that his awaited second album will drop on January 28, 2022. The album is titled “The Brother’s Keeper”.

The album title is said to be inspired by the changes in Chike’s life over the past year. He has gone from chasing a dream to being a beacon of success for his family, team, fans, friends, and loved ones. The album is rumored to have a theme of love, family and brotherhood.

Chike announced the album on social media with a quote from Martin Luther King Jr., which says; “We have flown the air like birds and swum the sea like fishes, but have yet to learn the simple act of walking the earth like brothers.”

‘Boo of The Booless’ which was hailed as an instant classic has been one of Nigeria’s most successful albums over the past year, bagging multiple Headies’ Awards nominations, topping “Albums of Year” lists and producing hits like ‘Nakupenda’, Running,’ ‘If You No Love’ and ‘Roju.’




ASA – Five

Asa is one of those Nigerian acts who has paid her “dues”. Her success story started off from her 2007 self-titled Asa album, since then she has been at the steady balance of the top-tier squad. 

After her LUCID project in 2019, Asa has had a break from the mainstream, causing the long-distance relationship between her music & fans.

Now, she is one of the top Nigerian artistes to have a project for her fans in the forthcoming year.

In an interview with media personality, ‘Ebuka’, Asa revealed details of the new project.

The body of work which will also be her fifth studio album would be titled “five” and will be released in early 2022, probably in January or February, she said.

Rema – Rave & Roses

Afrorave Singer, Rema is on the list and we finally got more promising information on this project which would be his debut album. On Friday, 7th of January, 2021; Rema announced that he gained admission into Unilag. The Jonzing World singer further revealed that he would put out the album before resuming in University.

Rema also teased that he was working with Super Producer Sarz, on some of the music for the album.

Naira Marley – God Timing is The Best

Marlians are eating good in 2022 because their president has made the announcement of his first studio project titled, ‘God Timing Is The Best’.

Although, no specific date has been revealed, however, he has released the lead track off the project – First Time In America.

BlaqBonez – Young Preacher

If anybody had to be on this list, it had to be Emeka The Stallion AKA BlaqBonez.

Bad Boy Blaq made the existence of his new project known when he dropped a teaser for one of the songs from the project.

He dropped the video via his Twitter page on Saturday, the 8th of January 2022.

The teaser shows him singing along to one of the songs on the project.

He captioned; “Young preacher album 2022!! Dropping more music than I ever have this yearrrr starting now!!!”

The studio project will serve as a follow-up to his previously released body of work, “Sex Over Love“, which was released last year, and had a deluxe version.

Simi – (Untitled)

In August 2021, Simi jokingly told her fans there will be no project till 2022. Her reasons in her own words; “I’ve used all the songs I should have put on my album to do lullaby for Deja. So no album until 2022 ”, she said.

Now, that 2022 is here we look forward to the album!



Wizkid – ‘More Love, Less Ego’

On October 29, 2021, Grammy-winning Nigerian superstar, Wizkid’s fourth studio album, ‘Made In Lagos’ clocked one year.

To celebrate his milestone, Wizkid took to his Instagram page to write that, “1 year already, thank you for riding with me. I’m just very grateful for all the love and blessings. Promised not to make you wait too long for the next one, ‘More Love Less Ego” dropping on the last day of tour. I love you.”

He also announced that his next album would be titled ‘More Love, Less Ego’ on the final date of his tour.

Made In Lagos Tour will end in Montreal, Canada on January 22, 2022.


Burna Boy – Untitled

The African Giant is rumoured to be giving us a new Album this year.

Apparently, there was anticipation for an Album from him last year but he delivered singles and has been on tour.

However, everything about this album has been pure speculation and unconfirmed rumours.

The First Speculation is that the Album is titled “The Winner”, this speculation comes from the release of a certain single in 2021 with the same title, there was no statement to confirm or deny this one.

Another Speculation is about the collaborations on the Project, apparently, hopes are that the collaborations that didn’t make it to Grammy Award Winning Twice as tall, would make it to the new project. The evidence of the said Collaborations can be found from a tweet in January 2021. See Below:
