NSFDW 2015 Unveils More Designers For This Year’s Edition

It is less than 1 week to the highly anticipated Winasbet Nigerian
Student Fashion And Design Week which is brought to you By BlackNBold Fashion House in collaboration with Africa Fashion Week London and Mahogany Production. The event is schedule to hold at the Indoor Sport Hall, University of Lagos between 17th and 18th July, 2015 with exhibitions starting from the 15th of July at New Hall Carpark. The anticipation is still rising as the designers have grown in numbers.

Meet some of the designers showcasing their collections.
We give a brief profile of each individual below:

HAUWA LIMAN

Hauwa Liman is the face behind the brand “afrik abaya”. She studies at
Bayero Univeristy, Kano. Her brand is driven by the richness of two
cultures by incorporating African fabric into the traditional
middle-eastern fashion trend for its collection.
Her collection is inspired by floral patterns when beautifully combined
with geometric elements in Vlisco and other unique fabrics coupled with
the quest to merge two fashion trends.
This brand chose to participate at the NSFDW because they felt it is a
medium to express and communicate their products and services to the
Nigerian audience. They hope to use the medium for business and social
networking. They would particularly like to establish relationship with
the media especially fashion journalists and in the process opportunities
like brand endorsement can be achieved.

OTI UCHE

Oti Uche is the creative director of “Annie Oti” and an undergraduate
student of the Obafemi Awolowo Univeristy where she is studying Law. At
Winasbet NSFDW, she wants to showcase her idea of fashion to the world and to pass the message of “confidence in fashion”. Her collection is inspired by life itself; “just appreciating the beauty of life” in her own words. She expects the show to be educative for her by learning from other designers and getting her brand exposure.

TOCHUKWU CHUKWUMA

Tochukwu is the Creative director behind the brand “AZARIEL”. She is
studying at the University of Lagos. Her collection is called “Cultural
lines”. The inspiration behind it is not far off from the name. It is
inspired from cultural elements such as the Yoruba “ASO-OKE”, the beads of the Igbo, and so on. She is showcasing at the Winasbet NSFDW because she wants to share with the world what she loves. She also wants to have fun and experience creativity at the NSFDW show.

OMOSHALEWA LAWAL

The brain behind Shirley Swiss House of Style is no one but Omoshalewa
Lawal , she got the inspiration behind her collection on the major love
stories she heard overtime.
The National Open University of Nigeria student disclosed that she wants
to showcase at the NSFDW because she will like to show people her
exceptional creativity and as well be known in the fashion industry. She
expects to wow the audience with her designs and as well win the best
creativity for the night.”
According to her, The Nigerian fashion industry can never be underrated
because of its exceptional success in the fashion world over the years and
she sees it as a platform of opportunity for a lot of youths out there, if
only they know how to utilize it.

JOE-MARTINS OLUWADAMILOLA

Joe-Martins Oluwadamilola is the Creative Director of “Olorie Martins“, Her collection is called “Gorgeous”. The Babcock University graduate proceeded to “Tolumi the fashion People” where she got a formal training on fashion designing. It was her fashion teacher Tolumi that informed her about NSFDW and she later made the decision to showcase this year. Her collection is basically about being sexy, classy, sassy and knowing how to express yourself with style without even having to talk. She feels the Nigerian fashion industry has improved because indigenous designs can now compete internationally.

“I would like to use the show to bring out the uniqueness of the human
mind through fashion and getting acclaimed recognition for my brand”. Says Oluwadamilola.
