Hello, hello ladies and gents! I hope all is shaking and baking well with you all as it is with me…
Now I’m sure many of you got a chance to see the newest batch of contestants for the 2011 Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria and even heard of its newest winner Miss Sylvia Nduka representing Taraba. After following the news of the contest and its contestants, I couldn’t help but think about the 2005 MBGN winner Omowunmi Akinnifesi. Why do you ask? Sure there are six other winners after her but to be honest, she is the only one that actually made me take notice of anything MBGN related. She has shown up and shown out on countless red carpet events looking hotter than fried plantain straight from your mother’s pot! If I am lying, I’m flying, in fact, let’s take a look at some photos that will surely bear me witness.
She has been featured in magazines and blogs alike, for instance, her spread in Complete Fashion Magazine photographed above.
Her style of gowns, I’m sure, have been taken to plenty of tailors to be duplicated simply for being the most eye catching. She never disappoints when it comes to dressing all the way up, whether its one shoulder or strapless, she wears them well.
I personally LOVE how fresh faced she always looks on the red carpet. I say, you can be wearing the hottest designer gown, shoes and bag but if your make up is lacking? You might as well be wearing rags for clothing, the same applies for your hair ladies (and gents).
Read up on what wikipedia had to say about her:
“In 2005, eighteen year old Akinnifesi was crowned Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria, making her eligible to represent her country at the Miss World Pageant in China that same year, where she displayed her skills and also engaged in tree planting for the Chinese government; she displayed more of her talent at another international pageant – Miss Tourism International in Ukraine, in which she emerged winner.
In 2008, Akinnifesi graduated from the University of Lagos with a degree in Geography and Regional Planning, and was first runner-up on the Nigerian version of Strictly Come Dancing, Celebrity Takes 2 Dance before she launched her own public relations and usher-hiring business Elle Poise.
In June 2009, Akinnifesi was appointed Environmental ambassador by the Lagos state governor Babatunde Fashola.”
In my book, if I can look you up and wikipedia has something to say about you? I can say, YOU HAVE ARRIVED. 🙂
Till next time…
