We humans are naturally selfish. If you do not agree, let me see your hands up! We have a way of twisting everything till they conform to what we can relate with, and this is the reason all them agarachas and dudes be throwing Christmas, valentine, thanksgiving celebrations E.T.C…… into the same basket.
What exactly is the essence of Christmas and why do we celebrate it??? Atheists, Buddhists and like religions seem to be joining in this celebration that causes what seems to have become such a uproar around the world! What gets me the most is- in attempts to come up with “Unique” Christmas cards or videos, we find most ladies in bikinis or super miniskirts and crop tops, completely taking the attention off THE ONE to whom the celebration is concerned. Ok, what i am about to say is my opinion and a very good one at that. Most people mistake Christmas to be a period to go on some sexual quest, while others say Christmas is about celebrating the birth of Jesus. I say LOVE (agape) is the essence of Christmas- Love and giving go hand in hand in this article. For God so LOVED the world that he GAVE His only begotten son…. When you love you sacrifice—Someone said there’s no point to your sacrifice if “you do not give out something that’s definitely kinda hard to give out”, and i agree. If we believe God gave His son for us- which is the most selfless gift ever, why do we find it difficult to give- rather than piling up money to blow on booze and food in an attempt to celebrate a season of love???
It is God’s love for the world that triggered such sacrifice from him. How do you celebrate the birthday of Jesus? Is it by drinking, partying in almost no attire, rather than actually living as he did on earth??? If as he is, so we are in this world- then people that believe in God (and i am not specific about Christians) had better start showing the world especially the ignorant ones, what Jesus is like. Let people see our Lord in you and not wrongly be convinced that He is indeed dead and gone by the evidence they see (The wickedness of his so-called followers).
