Everybody Loves Ice Prince (abbreviated as E.L.I) is the debut studio album by Nigerian rapper Ice Prince. It was released by Chocolate City on October 9, 2011. The album’s production was primarily handled by Jesse Jagz, along with additional production from M.I Abaga, Wizboyy, E Kelly, Samklef and Chopstix. It features collaborations with Brymo, Wizkid, 2 Face Idibia, Jesse Jagz, M.I, Yung L, and others.
“Everybody Loves Ice Prince” was an album that positioned Ice Prince as one of the peak hip hop artists in the continent. This body of work and changed it all for Ice Prince and for Hip-hop in Nigeria.
Its impact on the Nigerian Hip-hop scene can not be overemphasized.
Ice Prince songs like “Oleku”, “Superstar”, “Olofofo”, “Juju”, and others surely grooved the dance floors back in the 2010s.
Having bagged so many awards and recognitions after its release in 2011 such as The Headies best rap single “Oleku”, The Headies Best Rap Album, Ghana Music Awards Best African Act and a whole host of others, the album is undoubtedly one of Africa’s finest project.
Revisiting the album after 10 years, it’s clear that it immortalised a time in Nigerian Hip-hop history. Even this much longer after release, there still seem to be no skips, and the songs are always there to lift the mood and spur everyone’s best dance moves. “Everyone Loves” Ice Prince brings on a lot of nostalgic feelings. Since the beginning of his career, Ice Prince has and continues to victoriously leave his mark on music history with his endless strings of hits.
