The Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, sitting in Abuja has ordered the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Mr. Solomon Arase and other relevant security agencies in ‎the country to arrest the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki.

In a ruling this afternoon, the tribunal headed by Justice Danladi Umar issued a bench warrant against Bukola Saraki following his refusal to appear in court to face a 13-count criminal charge that was preferred against him by the Federal Ministry of Justice.

  1. Surprisingly, where is Bukola Saraki’s immunity as Nigeria’s Senate President? If Saraki is guilty, I cannot support him. The main fact remains that until this so-called Immunity Clause is removed for top Politicians under the 1999 Constitution, Saraki cannot be compelled to appear before any Court of Law, and should not be arrested while in Office. I’m very sure that the IGP, High Cout Judge and even CCB are aware of this fact. There is no exception providing for arrest when a politician is covered under the Immunity Clause, and are we gonna introduce one now without following the Due Process of Law? Let us get it right once and for all.
