The NMVA which is reputed for being one of the most consistent award ceremonies in the country is in its 8th consecutive season and this year’s edition, like others in the past is cause driven. Its theme a world without violence is dedicated to further deepening the consciousness of a violence free environment which is necessary for peace to thrive. This is against the backdrop of violent eruptions arising from religious, ethnic, civil and political disputes all over the world. The NMVA is also thumbing down all forms of media violence such as denigration of womanhood in music videos and other obscenities that may offend the sensibilities of innocent.

JOE EL FADE AWAY

Joe EL hits us with this amazingly groovy reality song, The song simply states the fact that God’s time can never be shifted no matter what, and no matter what riches you have in life, With time, they all tend to fade away, The song also states the inevitability of the fact that one can love you as much as you love yourself.
The song which will definitely stand the test of time was written and produced by The Legendary OJB Jezreel at Kennis Music Studios some days back.
As you expect more smashing songs from Joe EL and OJB.

He however went on tour in Benin Republic, Cameroun, Equitorial Guinea, Gabon, Ivory Coast and many others.
Sweet is that song which undeniably is a very good follow up to Coupe Decale, the audio was released last year, the sound reminds of the Sukus music of the Central/West African zone. The video was shot on one of the Beach of Lekki Lagos.
Watch and Enjoy. Directed by Michael Williams.

Looks like Kennis Music is playing hard ball, but it’s all fair game when you have your name signed on the paper.

Jaywon is joining the band wagon of stars parting ways with their labels. This one though doesn’t seem to be on bad terms as he’s stated that he’s still working on his album that’ll be released under Kennis Music, and then take it from there.

Check out the video.

In this interview with Ebuka on the show, Rubbing Minds, Blackface (formerly of Plantation Boiz) explains some of the writing he did on 2face’s african queen and also indicates that he didn’t get back payment for the song from previous years.

He discusses much more of his work as a writer also.

In the second video, he mentioned that he wasn’t invited to 2face’s wedding, but he remains courteous with him.

Not entirely sure how all this happened, but Kelly Hansome, who has placed several allegations on the doorsteps of Kennis music, is all of a sudden flipping the script.

Sources at the label reveal that an apologetic Kelly is making desperate moves to reconcile with Kennis Music bosses Keke and D 1

On Tuesday, a post on Kelly’s Facebook status read, ‘with respect to our new understanding, I, Kelly Hansome, sincerely apologise to Kennis music and Primetime and Mr Kenny Ogungbe aka Baba Keke for any comment, write up, publication or interview by me, directly or indirectly, that may have shown disrespect or put a hole on their reputation and respectable status…’

Kennis Music CEO, Kenny Ogungbe is yet to make an official statement.

A source at the label however said representatives of both parties have been meeting, and that Kelly is hoping to renew his ties with the label.

In the past months, Kennis had taken a lot of shots at Major Music Industry personalities, including MI, Don Jazzy, Wande Coal, Terry G, Dbanj, 2shotz, and of course Kennis Music, his former (or soon be to again) label. With recent developments, you can say this has been a very interesting turn of events.

Kelly Handsome’s album, “Names of Noise Makers” should be dropping soon.

This video came across us and I was wowed by what I heard. Now we’re not sure how true what this guy is saying is, but given recent fall out between Kelly Handsome and Kennis Music, and also 2face fall out with Kennis Music a few years back, one has to at least listen to what this Director is saying. Very interesting stuff. Not sure what is going on, but everyone has their side of a story. Check it out. Below is from the Adam Jones, the video director.

Kenny of Kennis Music and Primetime Africa fame, only paid me half of my directing fee. He took the footage for two Kelly Hansome videos and handed it to an editor without my involvement and directing notes. The videos turned out poorly. They were not what I intended, nor was the editing up to my standards. Kenny’s actions are the equivalent of agreeing to a payment, paying half, waiting for it to be done, and disappearing. Put simply, Kenny stole my labor.

2face Idibia
2face Idibia

It don happen. Word on the street is Innocent “2face” Idibia will be shutting his record label, Hypertek due to incompetent management. According to reports, the record label lost a whooping N40 million ($276,000), and 2face will have to lay off all of his employees.

Insiders have mentioned that this loss has also been linked to the poor sales of 2face latest album, Unstoppable. Critics have mentioned that the album is good but was not promoted well. This raises questions as to his choice to leave Kennis Music, which promoted his previous albums very well.

The first signs of distress in the record label came about when Da Natives, the only act signed to Hypertek broke up. Signs of the record label going under was confirmed when 2face returned to Now Muzik recently for a management deal. A move, some argue, might have been done to get his luke-warm career on track. There are also rumors that he might end up returning to Kennis Music also.
