If we didn’t know better, we’d think there was something going on between these two by the way they are looking into each others’ eyes.

But we’ll calm our horses as we know this is for the video shoot for the single, Ololufe from Flavour ft. Chidinma. The single is featured on Flavour’s Thankful album released last November.

The video was shot in Capetown, South Africa. Not too many other places more romantics. As Chidinma said on instagram “#capetown #chilling #fun #loveintheair #welovelife #christiana #igobeyourwifey #ololufe @2niteflavour @2niteoloye #masterkraft_”

Yep! Love is true in the air. Right?

Wedding-songs

In every year there’s a slew of wedding songs released, and 2014 is no different. Earlier in the year we put out a post for the top 5 wedding songs for 2014, and now that the year is over we are putting out the top wedding song released in 2014.

These songs are songs we predict will be significant wedding hits in 2015. So before it becomes too cliché to use it, you have first dibs. You’re welcome.

1. Tiwa Savage – My Darlin

Tiwa Savage’s My Darlin is barely 4 months old, but it’s already getting popular on radio and TV airwaves and the likes. The natural next natural step is weddings. The wedding themed video tells you all you need to know.

2. Flavour – Gollibe

It was released in his Thankful album just last november, and it’s already being played at weddings in the east. Flavour’s music and weddings go hand in hand like rice and stew, fish and chips, beans and platains… You get the point.

3. Ojoro Justice – My Size

There are songs that are hidden gems and this tune by Ojoro Justice is one of them. Everything about what a bride would want to hear on her wedding day is played out in ‘My Size

4. Sean Tizzle – Perfect Gentleman

Sean Tizzle’s album, The Journey contains a slew of hits, and this song Perfect Gentleman is one of them, and more especially a hit for the weddings.

5. Davido – Aye

Arguably the biggest hit of 2014, Davido’s Aye spells out lyrics for undiluted pure innocent love. Without the concerns of money and material things. Noble lyrics, but does it really apply? No one cares, we love love, so it does the job for weddings.

6. Yemi Alade – Kissing

Me and You, sitting on tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G. I mean wetin else you wan hear from le boo on the wedding day? Yemi Alade’s Kissing is one of the most slept one wedding songs of the year, but not too worry, I predict 2015 will be a big year for it.

7. Mavins – Adaobi

This might be a surprise to some since it comes off as a club hit, but it can double up as a solid wedding song. High tempo, sweet but simple lyrics, and enough diversity from the artists that everyone has a favorite part. Tune!

8. WizKid – One Question

WizKid has a wedding song every year, and this one is the one for 2014. In an album that has a lot of similar sounding songs, One Question with Yemi Sax stands out a bit as the one song we can play at weddings going into 2015.

9. Patoranking – Happy Day

Just get Patoranking to performing this wedding tune “Happy Day” at your coming wedding events and see the glory of love in this hot wedding tune from the next rated award winning reggae music star.

10. Pasuma Wonder | IFE Ft. Tiwa Savage

Fuji music star, Alabi Pasuma Wonder strong entry into the Nigerian hip-hop & RnB music with a classic love song IFE with another fashioned. Deep Yoruba love song backed with Tiwa Savage strong high singing voice. Hope he comes back with another hit love song we can enjoy in 2015.

Ace producer, Tspize links up with Flavour and Phyno to share a remix for his smash hit titled Gbawaya. He shares this as a birthday gift for his fans . A very thoughtful move if you ask me. Tspize has had a  Successful career.  He produced major hits  like Aye by Davido, Gallardo by Runtown ft davido, Sekem by mc galaxy, etc… Enjoy this remix.

It’s that time of the year once again, and a chance to look back and reflect on the year that has been. Youtube just released a list of the most viewed music videos in Nigeria for the year 2014, and it pretty shows the hit songs we all expected with a few surprises.

A look at Nigerian music favourites for 2014 reveals that while Nigerians joined the global community in catching Nicki Minaj’s Anaconda “bug”, it is music from top Nigerian stars that kept us dancing through the year. Topping other equally popular videos like ‘Dorobucci’ by Mavins, ‘Wanted’ by Tiwa Savage, ‘Ikwokrikwo’ by Flavour and ‘Surulere’ by Dr. Sid to become the most watched musical video in Nigeria in 2014 is the widely popular track ‘Aye’ by Davido. Note-worthy is the fact that ‘Anaconda’ was the only track on the list that isn’t nigerian.

1. Davido – Aye

2. MAVINS – DOROBUCCI ft Don Jazzy, Tiwa Savage, Dr SID, D’Prince, Reekado Banks, Korede Bello, Di’Ja

3. Nicki Minaj – Anaconda

4. Tiwa Savage – Wanted

5. Flavour – Ikwokrikwo

6. Dr SID – SURULERE ft Don Jazzy

7. Yemi Alade – Johnny

8. Davido ft Mafikizolo – “Tchelete (Goodlife)”

9. P Square – Taste the Money (Testimony)

10. Patoranking – Girlie ‘O’ Remix ft. Tiwa Savage

Today is day 2 of our countdown of the Top 20 Hottest Nigerian Artists of 2014.

If you haven’t been following, you can catch up by checking out the post from yesterday, and see who made the list from 20 down to 16:

Numbers 16-20

15. Flavour

Flavour-At-Sea-By-AL-Nicoll-41

First off we’re not including Flavour’s surprise album, Thankful, as part of the criteria to judge him this year since it came pretty late in the year. Rather we’re going to with the impact of some singles from his previous album, Blessed, more especially Ada Ada, Black Is Beautiful and Shake. I dare you to name one wedding where “Ada Ada” was not one of the major songs of the day. It really has to be the wedding song of the year 2013 & 2014.

Putting out videos for those songs in 2013-2014 really carried the songs well into 2014. Throw in his pre-album single, Wake Up, with Wande Coal and numerous solid features including the highly popular, Authe with Phyno. It’s hard not to include Flavour as one of the artists of the year.

14. Oritse Femi

oritsefemi-2

Oritse Femi went from relatively unknown to being of the most popular names in Nigerian music this year. Even though he’s had about 3-4 albums under his belt already, he rose to major prominence this year with his smash hit Double Wahala. Along with that came other heavy singles, Sexy Ladies with Davido, Want It with Shatta Wale, Double Wahala Remix with Dbanj and numerous features on other artists songs. You’d be tempted to say Oritse Femi was probably one of the most sort after artists in terms of features.

It’s hard to think of 2014 without thinking Oritse Femi. And you get the feeling there’s a lot more to come.

13. Reminisce

REMINISCE

Around this time last year, Reminisce released his sophomore project, Alaga Ibile, and really started getting mad respect as not just one of top Yoruba speaking MCs in the game, but one of the best all round. The album had heavy spinning tunes, Eleniyan ft. WizKid, Daddy with Davido, and Government ft. Endia and Olamide. To go along with the album cuts, he put out the solid street single Tesojue (which is personally one of my favs), and a host of outstanding features including the blazing hot Ise Yen with ace producer Sarz.

Reminisce has generally been hot all year round. Videos, features, and the likes – with solid quality if I might add – Now everyone is now putting right up there with the best MCs this side of the continent.

12. Iyanya

Iyanya (4)

Iyanya stays super relevant year in year out. Either by his music, or his showbiz antics. This year his music has spoken for him in major volumes. He hasn’t put out a solo album, but his singles, Mr Oreo, Lekwa Ukwu and Away have been some of the best party songs you can get in the country.

His music tends to sound alike, but when in the club it’s about the catchiest thing you’d want to hear. Iyanya seems to have found his niche, and is milking it to the max. This year he has done so very well. It also helps when you add great dance moves to the songs.

11. Sean Tizzle

HorploadWorks_SeanTizzle_2

Sean Tizzle took his red hot momentum from 2013 straight into 2014 and dropped his debut album, The Journey – which by the way got a lot of good reviews. The album spurn a few more hits Take It, and Perfect Gentleman along with the others that were already putting him on the map.

All in all 2014 has been a good year for Sean Tizzle, and the Headies Next Rated win late last year has proved to be a solid indicator of what he was bound to do and did in 2014. Kudos.

Off his Thankful album, check out this brand new video to Flavour N’abania’s Gollibe.

Directed by Clarence Peters, the video features appearances from Anna Ebiere, and Pete Edochie. It’s a nice video. Definitely worth watching, and as with a lot of Flavour videos, this one has a love story behind it. A dedication to his boo, Anna Ebiere? Not sure.

Brymo has had his fare share of controversy. We don’t need to go into that, and one thing we know he’s very good at is throwing sub messages on twitter. I mean we’ve seen a lot of it from him in the past, but the latest series of tweets kinda leaves us scratching our heads. His album, Tabula Rasa, was released a few weeks ago, and has been selling on iTunes but no knowledge of physical album sales have been noted as of yet.

Is it at the former label? Is it at Flavour, who just had information released that he sold 1 million copies of his album Thankful in 5 days? Is it at someone totally random that we don’t know? It’s kind of hard to say because he starts off in one direction and ends in another.

Check out the tweets and you tell us what you think… and yes, it’s kind of our business :)

The word going around this great thursday morning is that Flavour’s suprise release album, Thankful, has already sold 1 million copies. Popular blogger Linda Ikeji put this out today indicating that Obaino Music, the company responsible for marketing the album confirmed the figures to her.

Now the main question, how do we know for sure that this is correct. Do we just take the marketer’s word for it? But really with the population Nigeria has, and the fan base that Flavour clearly has combined with the fact that CDs are about 100-150 per copy, is 1 million records really that difficult to achieve?

The other thing to consider in this debate is that what considers record sales? Shipment to stores, or actual physical sales? And who keeps tabs? What’s the structure in place to track sales and downloads? Are they combined figures? It’s an interesting discussion especially seeing as a few years ago, MI burst on to the scene with the famous 30,000 sold in 30 minutes. Possible?

From what we’ve heard of the album (which features MI, Phyno, Chidinma, Waga and Wande Coal), it’s pretty solid, and the reviews from many have been positive but pulling in a million in 5 days is taking it to higher level.

We grabbed a couple of reactions from twitter on this subject.

So we ask you:

Do You Think Flavour’s Album Really Sold 1 Million In 5 Days?

Yes. I Believe It.

No. It's Not Possible

Flavour dropped a surprise album over the weekend, and got the everyone buzzing. An album review is in the works most guaranteed, but I’ve decided to pick out a track that has been making rounds on the net, and review it. That’s Ololufe which features Chidinma Ekile.

Ololufe, from what we hear, is designed to a love duet. Not a happy go lucky wedding song per say, but more like a “first dance” song with simple but decent lyrics that make it very easy for anyone to understand and sing along with. The melody of it is a bit generic, and isn’t so fresh sounding per say but Flavour’s singing and chidinma’s complimentary voicing makes you kind of ignore that. I would also have preferred Chidinma’s portion to have a bit more strength, and it sounds like the mixing was bit poor honestly.

Overall it’s an ok song. It’s not the song we’ll be running to per say, but if you hear it at a weddiing your heart will surely melt a bit. You wont realize when you’re singing “Will You Be My Wifey”

Makes the playlist :)

This is something like a surprise! On a day when everyone is buzzing about Olamide’s Street OT album, Flavour N’Abania pulls off a “beyonce” and drops his 4th studio album titled, Thankful, out of the blue.

However, if you had been paying attention you might have seen the signs around. The pictures he dropped on instagram over the last couple of days hinted to it, and his tweet just over an hour ago showed that the album has indeed landed in the hands of the distributors.

Brand new heat from Super C himself, Naeto C featuring Flavour N’Abania. The song titled Helele is all manner of igbo sexy. Some of the best from the eastern side of Nigeria.

There’s been talk recently of Naeto C apparently falling off… Do you think this has done enough to quiet down the critics? Check on it. Produced by E-Kelly.

So it looks like high-life singer, Flavour N’Abania, has snatched up last year’s Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria winner, Anna Banner Ebiere.

A few days ago, Anna Ebiere put up Flavour N’Abania up as her  #MCW (Man Crush Wednesday) on instagram with the caption “My #MCW everyday…. I mis u” but there’s no harm in that right? Well just yesterday she put up another picture of them with the caption “Wen u have someone dat encourage u, support u, scolds u, appreciates u, respect u, advice u, reminds u of wat the future holds, play with u, cares abt u, loves u, makes u smile, tells u the truth without looking back, and most importantly draws u closer to God. pls tell me wat else u want!!!.. cuz I have all I need. U make me happy! !☺☺ ur more than awesome. … I pray dat God continues to bless you. @2niteflavour

That’s a bit much for just friends we think.

Whatever the case is we wish them the best. Looks like Flavour has a thing for beauty queens. There are rumors that he just had a baby by former Miss Delta about a month ago, but he hasn’t confirmed or denied that.
