Desmond Elliot’s Interview with Golden Icons: The root of our problem in Nigeria starts with Tribalism, and not realizing that we are ONE: Watch Now!!

This NEVER RELEASED interview of Desmond Elliot was done in the Summer of this year ‘2014’, but could not be released due to some technical issues.

In this exclusive interview, Nollywood Ace Director/Actor Desmond Elliot sat down with Emma Emerson of Golden Icons to discuss several topics including: his career, transitioning from an actor to a director, who earns more between Nigerian musicians and Nollywood actors; on how Lagos as a city can benefit from Nollywood. When asked to list the top endorsed actors in Nollywood, he mentioned his humble self and others including, Genevieve Nnaji, Mike Ezuruonye, Chioma Chukwuka Akpotha, Funke Akindele, and Ini Edo, just to mention a few.
Part 2 of this interview got a little more interesting, as we got down to his family, and talks about being married for 11 years, how he handled having 2 sets of twins, and addressed the previous online rumor that he relocated his family to the United States.

Below is an excerpt from Part 2 of the Interview on his LOVE for his country ‘Nigeria’:

Desmond: I am hoping for a Nigeria that is very fantastic says Desmond Elliot;
Emma: Do you think that is ever possible
Desmond: Extremely Possible… Let me tell you why
Emma:Why?
Desmond: The former 10 year olds are now 18; and the former 18 year olds are now 36, so Information is increasing; and don’t forget, Nigeria as a.. as a people, is specially created.
Emma: For what?
Desmond: We are specially created; do you know why we are special? I’m not joking now.. I mean it, cos’ I’ve been almost everywhere, and I see a Nigerian in almost every country I’ve been to; and my question is: What are they looking for?
You must always see that a Nigerian is a powerful being, and we are beginning to understand that. The only thing we need to do now is teach our youth.. and let them understand that.. Listen, we are powerful beings. Our Major devil or demon is: the old thinking of why I am a Yoruba man and I shouldn’t be talking to an Igbo man; or Why I am a Hausa man, and I shouldn’t be talking to an Igbo man.
Emma: “You think Tribalism is the biggest issue” in Nigeria
Desmond: It’s in it, and let me tell you who passes it across
Emma: Who?
Desmond: Our Parents!! Our Parents… You know why? Immediately now…. Imagine kids…. Once a child comes…. I use my kids as an example….They come here to America…. They don’t look…. they don’t care if you are white or black, or blue or yellow.. Until you ask the question, is Jamie White or Black… You understand…. because they don’t care!!
He further continued to describe the scenario, and then made one of his biggest punch lines… The moment we ‘Nigerians’, realize that we are SAME…. If we must grow first, then you must see yourselves as ONE.
You need to watch Part 2 of this exclusive Interview with Golden Icons to view the full details of the discussion..

Cast of Unguarded

On Saturday, Nov. 3rd well known Nigerian Actress Uche Jombo-Rodriguez was in New York City to attend the premiere of the movie, UNGUARDED. The premiere was held at the Gold Ballroom of Hotel Pennsylvania located in midtown, Manhattan.

Other Nollywood favorites and cast members in attendance include Ramsey Nouah, Desmond Elliot, and Esosa Edosonmwan. Who were supported by fellow acting colleagues Emem Isong and Monalisa Chinda.

The premiere kicked off at about 8.30pm with a full-house of fans in attendance to enjoy what the producers had promised would be the best movie of the year; which based on the resounding applause and reviews when the curtains came down about two hours later was sure proof that the fans were not disappointed. UNGUARDED is a story about a man (played by Ramsey Nouah) who fell deeply in love with a girl (Esosa Edosonmwan), and was ready to take the next step only to find out that she had other plans which definitely didn’t include him. She leaves him devastated and damaged; and his actions here on out are unforgivable until he meets someone special (played Uche Jombo).

Fans were very impressed not just with the storyline, but the overall production of the movie. From the stellar performance and delivery of the cast, to the directing and film-editing, and even the music composition everything was well executed which together brought about a great movie. UNGUARDED is produced by Chisom Oz-lee/Best Icon Productions and directed by Desmond Elliot.

Monalisa, Nse Ikpe-Etim and Bhaira Mcwizu on set

It is another combination of beauty and brains as nollywood screen diva Monalisa Chinda and wave making actor Joseph Benjamin put together stellar performances in another romantic comedy flick from the Royal Arts Academy titled ‘Kiss and Tell’.

Starring Desmond Elliot, Monalisa Chinda, Nse Ikpe-Etim Uche Jombo, Joseph Benjamin, Bhaira Mcwizu, Darlene Benson and others, ‘Kiss and Tell’ is set to be premiered on June 19, at the Silverbird Galleria in Lagos. As we have been informed, the classy premiere is to start by 4pm with a red carpet event and the premiere proper by 6pm.

The highly humorous movie ‘Kiss and Tell’ is set to crack the toughest ribs and it has Monalisa Chinda as the executive producer and one of the best in the field Emem Isong as the producer.

Iyke, the ultimate player, is best of friends with Bernard, except when it comes to Blue Quest, the firm they run together. When Delphine, a gorgeous divorcee who has sworn off men, walks into Iykes’s life, he makes a wager with his friend to sleep with her in ten days or sell his controlling shares in the company. What Iyke didn’t bargain for was falling for his Prey.

Iyke (Joseph Benjamin), the ultimate player in the game of women runs Blue Quest with his friend Bernard (Desmond Elliot); their friendship however does not apply to their coy. Iyke, who prides himself as the ultimate player per excellence however met his match perhaps more than he bargain for in Delphine (Monalisa Chinda), a divorce lawyer who is a divorcee herself. Iyke is about to lose a bet, a controlling shares of Blue Quest. He has to win or lose all.
Emem Isong speaking on the movie said, ‘it is a classy movie one that you watch and feel good about. We exercised a lot of caution in producing the movie so that the touch of class can be maintained. The script has a detailed touch of wit and humour and the director Desmond Eliot ensured that the cast brought the script to life. It took a lot of hard work to put the movie together but comments that we have gotten so far since the trailer has been released has made it all worth it’.

Tongues are however wagging that Monalisa might be telling her messy divorce story in the compelling flick. ‘Let me leave that to people who know me to judge’ she said in a release by Royal Arts reps, Bigsam Media.

Kiss and Tell will be in cinemas in Abuja, Lagos, Port Harcourt and other parts of the country from July 18.
