Brymo-Merchants-Dealers-and-Slaves-Album-Cover

It’s been a few months in the making, and it’s finally here. The ex Choc Boy releases his 3rd studio album, and his first since his split from Chocolate City, titled Merchants Dealers and Slaves. It’s an album that he describes as meaningful to him than his previous projects when we chatted with him. (See full interview here)

The album is an 11 track piece and notably has only one feature so you know this is a new Brymo we’re looking at. You can say this might be Brymo in his true self, and less commercial if you will.

The album is available on iTunes, and you can preview a track here titled Eko, and if that’s anything to go buy, then this album is a must have in your music collection.

Chocolate City’s representative of Kenya has been all over the Nigerian music scene of late, and even though you can arguably say she hasn’t had that huge break out hit, she’s been buzzing with numerous decent singles and grabbing nominations at the Channel O music awards.

Victoria Kimani officially releases ten songs off her “Queen Victoria” mixtape today, and the much anticipated reggae-centric mixtape has the appeal to make you jump and shake your body, and boasts of amazing R and B hits such as “Do What You Do” featuring EME artiste Banky W.

“Queen Victoria” also features Kenyan-born musician and Big Brother Africa Stargame housemate PREZZO in an East African remix of the previously released single “Whoa.” Her collaboration with Choc City’s punchline queen, lyricist and talented rapper, PRYSE in ‘Hate me’ has also been tagged by early reviewers as is “simply off-the-hook”

Other acts on the mixtape include, Lynxxx, Loose Kaynon, Kimya Bamboo and DJ Jimmy Jatt.

If Victoria’s early success is anything to go by, then this tape should be a good addition for African music lovers.

Straight from the horse’s mouth. Brymo has come out to explain why he left Chocolate city, and he states that it’s all contractual issues. He admits that he knows that the court cannot save him since he is in Nigeria.

He explains his plans after his split: “Since I left Chocolate City, I’ve been working on my own personal stuff and seeing if I can take myself farther from where they stopped.

He joins Jesse Jagz as two of Chocolate City artists that left the label in the past 6 months.

World PR media representing Chocolate City group released a statement yesterday evening with respect to the report that Brymo had parted ways with Chocolate City.

Here is the official statement:

“We can confirm that Brymo still has a valid contract with Choc City and we are certain our Artiste “Brymo” can confirm the same fact. We urge all reputable media houses to check facts with our establishment prior to releasing “Untrue” stories to the general public that rely on them for valuable Information”

Now if you’re like me, you’ll know something is not 100% from this statement with respect to reports from earlier today.

Here’s what we do know so far. 2 people close to the Chocolate City camp have confirmed that Brymo did in fact leave Chocolate City. With chocolate city stating that he still has a contract with them, it means that Brymo technically can’t “leave” Chocolate City.

Brymo came out earlier this morning to also say that yes, he has left Chocolate City.

The story is definitely not complete, and we’ll be sure to hear more about this in the coming days. Now the question is, why he left?

HipHop W0rld is reporting that Ibrahim Oluwale aka Brymo has left record label, Chocolate City. After a less than well promoted album under Chocolate City a lot of rumors had surfaced that he was discontent with the situation.

We spoke to an associate of the label, and he mentioned that he believed it to be true but has not confirmed from management yet.

If the rumors are true with Jesse Jagz & Brymo having left Chocolate City, MI & Ice Prince will be the major acts left on the label.

We will wait to see how the story develops as no press statement has been made from any of the parties.

Brymo has decided to call it quits with Chocolate City. This latest development occurs barely two months after former label mate Jesse Jagz walked away from the company.

HipHopWorld has it on reliable information that the “Ara” singer officially parted ways with ‘Choc City’ over the weekend; but both parties have managed to keep a lid on the issue until now.

Brymo has been rumored to be not-so-friendly with some members of the Choc family; and apart from the business side of things, it doesn’t seem like ‘The Son of a Kapenta’ will be sorely missed by his remaining label-mates.

Pryse has been on our radar since her days in the UK, and her fierce lyrics earned her a spot on our feature of 25 most promising upcoming acts last year.

With Chocolate City she’s seen her status rise even higher with multiple features and freestyles. Now she’s ready with the new single, titled Eloto. Repping PH city, this chick right here is ready to cause some serious havoc.

Check on it. Drop your thoughts.

Some of us might have suspected but now we can confirm that Chocolate City has officially signed their first female artist, Pryse.

Pryse who has been buzzing on the internet for a few years is now officially a “Choc Boi.” Her track Femcee Toh Badt was one of the hottest track by a female rapper at the time frame that it was released and if you paid attention, you might have peeped the line “My bars so sweet, might be turning chocolate.

Pryse had this to say when we talked to her “I feel excited. Plus now I can tell people! I’ve been waiting 4 my shot. Now I got it.

Pryse is featured on MI’s soon to be released Illegal Music 2 mixtape. MI Abaga had this to say on his twitter page “Ladies and Gents… It’s Official… @itspryse (Pryse) is the first official Choc Girl!!! Welcome to the fam!!!

Things are definitely looking good for the femcee Pryse, and Chocolate City adds a new dimension to their label. Big things coming up.
