The Akwa Ibom State governorship tribunal has ordered for a rerun of the governorship election in the state for 18 out of the 31 Local Government Areas in the state.
The Tribunal ordered Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to conduct a re-run election after giving the verdict on Wednesday, October 21st, 2015.
The Tribunal said that it was convinced beyond reasonable doubt that there were in fact discrepancies in the governorship elections that took place on April 11th, 2015.
Mr Udom Emmanuel (PDP) polled a total of 996 071 votes, ahead of the candidate of the All Progressive Congress’s, Umana Okon Umana, who got 89 865.
There hasn’t been a date set for the rerun as of the time of this report.
