After much speculation and delay, it seems like Stephen Keshi has accepted to stay on as the head coach for the Super Eagles. According to reports from africanfootball.com, “Stephen Keshi sent an official notice to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) today, formally confirming that he will stay on to continue as the national team’s coach.”
Stephen Keshi is his time as Super Eagles coach led the Eagles to win the Africa Cup of Nations for the first time in 19 years and to qualification (and entry into the Round of 16) in a fifth World Cup.
Following the round of 16 exit in the world cup, Stephen Keshi had put in a notice that he intends to resign as head coach of the Super Eagles, and just recently was linked to the head coaching job for South Africa.
Nigeria will play Rwanda, in Nigeria, on September 7th, 2014. This will be the Eagles’ first qualifying match for the Africa Cup of Nations, which will take place in Morocco in 2015.
