It looks like it’s going downhill for one of our finest sprinters as reports suggest that she has been banned from competing in the Rio 2016 Olympic games by the National Sports Commission and the Athletics Federation of Nigeria.
This comes shortly after her decision to skip the 2015 All Africa Games in Congo, and also failed to run for Nigeria in the 200m event at IAAF World Championship in Beijing, China. However she showed up in Zurich for the Diamond League this past Thursday.
Okagbare didn’t have the best of showings at the IAAF World championships in Beijing, China where she finished last in the 100m, and subsequently didn’t run the 200m.
According to reports, the NSC and the AFN concluded that her decisions were unpatriotic, and decided to ban her from competing the Rio 2016 Olympics scheduled to take place next summer in Brazil.
