A suicide bomber suspected to be a male, has detonated a bomb killing six persons in Potiskum town, Yobe State.
The blast occurred at a local branch of Redeemed Christian Church of God along Bauchi road.
A resident of the town who is also one of the officials working with the aid agencies confirmed that the bomb went off at a time worshipers were observing the Sunday service.
“Six persons died and there are no reports of injuries yet” he said.
Efforts to speak with the police were futile as their phones were switched off.
Also, the spokesperson of the Joint Task Force in Yobe, Lazarus Eli, said he had travelled out of the state for an official assignment and is yet to be briefed on the matter.
According to Police Relations Officer in Yobe, Toyin Gbadegesin “A male suicide bomber detonated a bomb at Redeemed Church at Jigawa area of Potiskum, Killing five on the spot.
A female member of the church who sustained injuries also died while receiving treatment int the hospital,” Mr Gbadegesin told the News Agency of Nigeria.
