Nigeria’s largest and some say most reliable airline has halted all domestic flights, claiming that the federal government corruption has made it impossible to operate.
Arik Air Ltd made the announcement Thursday, as it said government officials raided its operations in Lagos, disrupting all flights. The company’s chairman, Chris Ndulue, claimes the aviation minister and others were intentionally trying to destroy the airline for their financial benefits.
Aviation officials have denied this claim stating that it was the unions that staged this attack. This will be a big blow to avaition industry as Arik is seen by many as the most reliable airline in the country, and according to recent reports boats of the newest fleet of planes in the country.
