Looking back at the growth of Reekado Banks from ‘Dorobucci’ to ‘Like’, if you have been paying attention you’ll acknowledge that the boy has grown from a small boy that Don Jazzy signed to a biggie man. He has continued to impress with his music even in the face of naysayers. These days he is very much a go to guy and things just get better around him.
After enjoying very decent airplay on his last single ‘Like’ both on radio and TV, the singer made his first music debut for 2018. The music industry is one that does not condone complacency you have to stay around by putting out new music at timely intervals. Hence, Reekado Banks launched his 2018 with a fresh jam ‘Pull Up’.
On ‘Pull Up’ Reeky stands alone, unlike his previous single where he was assisted vocally by ‘big sister’ Tiwa Savage. He hooked up with his dependable beat maker and Mavin Records in-house music producer Altims.
On this new track Reekado Banks does not instantly impress with his choice of lyrics. The lyrics are too repetitive to begin what would be a very solid jam. The repetitive nature of his lyrics gives an impression that the Mavin hit maker is trying very hard to make his lyrics stick from the get go. That move on this song comes out not so great.
However, after struggling through what would be his first verse. Reeky seems to find his balance towards the second verse which is obviously the best part of the song. This is the part he throws in a bit of cool word play. “Baby this your body no be rumour (rumour), innocent with the face”. I wish he kept up with this flow for a third verse it would be amazing.
Nonetheless, the way ‘Pull Up’ is styled it’s a song that would grow on the people with more airplay. No doubt that Reeky is a huge talent however, this is not near his best work.
