Iyanya who just recently concluded his US tour, took to his Instagram page to drop news about setting up a new record label. This year has witnessed the birth of various record labels by Nigerian artistes.
The muscular Pop and R&B singer also disclosed that he will be dropping a new album soon. We’ll have to wait and see what additional details are revealed.
It’s not entirely clear if he’s just moving on to bigger things in his career, or he’s had a falling out with label owner, Ubi Franklin. TripleMG is also home to other stars including Tekno, and Tonye.
The list of new record labels just keeps increasing by the day. Some of the new labels launched this year are:
DMW (Davido Music Worldwide) – an international record label by HKN frontman Davido. He has signed two acts Mayorkun and Dremo.
Starboy Worldwide – which is an international version of Starboy, owned by Wizkid Ayo. The record label houses Ghanaian duo R2bees, Mr Eazi and Efya.
Super Cool Cats – by Ice Prince. There are no signees yet.
MCG Empire – by self-styled king of new dance MC Galaxy, which is also an international version of his own label. He has three new acts Neza from Rwanda, Prinye Jaja and Lybra.
YAGI – (Young and Getting It) owned by star rapper Lil Kesh. The new record label came on the heels of his ended contract with Olamide’s YBNL. No signees yet, YAGI is still very affiliated with YBNL.
PITM – (Power in the Music) owned by Runtown, this came after his altercation with his record label Eric Manny records was resolved amicably.
