August Alsina has come out to talk on the medical illness that had made him cancel his show.
Conveying the message to his 6.2 million followers on Instagram giving, the singer gave an in-depth explanation on what happened to him that made him unable to show up for his planned event at the 2019 ESSENCE FESTIVAL in New Orleans, LA.
The 26 years old artist posted a video on his Instagram explaining what he has been going through recently.
“So here’s the stitch,” Alsina began. “I woke up one day and wasn’t able to walk. Couldn’t feel my legs. My doctor ended up admitting me to the hospital to do a bunch of tests and he said that I have some nerve damage going on throughout my whole body that I have to undergo a recovery process for. I don’t know it’s like my immunity system just went on vacation. So just waiting on it to come on back so we can get together and make it do what it do man.”
Alsina has been dealing with health issues for a while now. After undergoing an eye surgery in 2015, the singer told Jada Pinkett-Smith back in 2017 that he’s “sick all the time” due to liver disease.
“I have a liver disease where my autoimmune system is fighting against itself,” Alsina said. “The reality of it is, I’m sick all the time. I don’t really like to talk about it because I’m not looking for anybody’s sympathy. Don’t treat me like I’m a fucking cancer patient, ’cause I’m not.”
