Nollywood actress, Uru Eke is known for her role in the movie, ‘Last Flight to Abuja’, ‘Weekend Getaway’ and ‘Being Mrs Elliot’.

Uru Eke Biography
Uru Eke was born in Newham, East London, UK in 1979. She has two sisters and she is the second of a set of twins. She grew up with her single mother who was very strict and attended Primary School in London. After completing her secondary education in Nigeria, Uru returned to Britain and gained a certificate to higher education in computing at Lewisham college from there she went on to study ‘Business Information Technology’ at the University of Greenwich.

In 2011 Uru decided to switch careers and focus on her acting fulltime after dedicating 5years to the IT industry. Uru began her acting career with a london based acting group called Association of Multinational Performing Artistes (AMPA) in the UK, where she featured in a number of stage plays and in house productions. She has acted in over 10 films including; Forgive me father, Ebony, Widows men, Friends in love, African Soldier, The return of Ogidi, Save the Prince, The Gift, Timeless Passion, Strive, Darkside, Last flight to Abuja and Weekend Getaway. In September 2012 CNN’s Vladimir Duthiers conducted an interview with Uru for their world wide 300million viewership program ‘Inside Africa’ where she was asked about her journey into acting, the 2012 Nollywood blockbuster release ‘Last Flight to Abuja’ where she played chief air hostess and her plans for the future. Despite her IT background, Uru is a natural actress whose work has not gone unnoticed as she was nominated in 2011 for the ‘Best of Nollywood’(BON) awards for ‘Best upcoming Actress’ thereby ensuring a steady growth in her career in the film making business.
