Jaguda Artiste Of The Month: Naira Marley

0

Nigerian rapper cum singer Azeez Fashola widely known by the stage name Naira Marley is our Jaguda Artiste of the Month for December. Naira Marley looks like the most unlikely person, but here is he, our featured artiste.

The year 2019 may have started with no special plans for the UK returnee. In fact, there may not have been any industry stakeholder or media platforms that tipped Naira Marley to become the colossal success he is today. After scoring a hit with ‘Issa Goal‘ and the world cup remix that is as much success anyone would have anticipated for the unconventional artiste.

“Things started moving in his favour after his release from EFCC custody. A teeming group of fans known as Marlians emerged mirroring his ‘wayward’ kind of music. Subsequently, in a short space of time, Naira Marley had the hottest songs like ‘Am I A Yahoo Boy’, ‘Opotoyi’, ‘Soapy’, ‘Puta’, ‘Mafo’ etc.”

His biggest win is not cooking up hits within a short period, his real blessing has been having fans who have decided to ride for him at his lowest point. Marlians have made Naira Marley a big deal and his influence far-reaching. Majority of his fans are from the streets, however, his appeal has broken barriers with lots of socialites repping the movement.

Like we started before in an editorial, Naira Marley qualifies to be named the artiste of the year because of his growing followership in the Nigerian music space. This has seen the artiste sell out shows both in Ibadan and most recently Lagos at Eko Convention Center.

The ‘Tesumole‘ crooner ended 2019 with a body of work, the ‘Lord of Lamba’ (LOL) EP. The president of the Marlians once again decides to push new talent via his platform as he announced the signing of four new artistes to his new Marlian Music.

At the Marlian Fest, Naira Marley announced Mohbad, ZinoLeesky, Cblvck and FabianBlu are new acts on the label.

There is only one remedy for hate, which is overwhelming success and that is what Naira Marley did. There was no better way to end a controversial year than ending it as a force in the industry.
