A twitter user decided to find expression on the micro-blogging site; out of a thousand and one life issues to share her unpopular opinion about she chose to hit on Mavin Records’ Korede Bello.
What exactly did she say that was so bad?
Is Korede Bello even a bad investment critically speaking? Hell No! The 20-year-old Mavin Records signee ain’t bad at all. I bet some veterans in the music industry wish they had something Korede Bello has.
Here’s is why Korede Bello is killing your favorite artiste. The reason is pretty simple he has an enviable fan base. Whatever may be the secret to his burgeoning fan base will make for a good topic some other day. But that is exactly why Korede Bello Trumps over some of your favorite music acts. What more can an artiste ask for if not a massive fan base. When awards doesn’t favour a certain artiste, all he is left with are his fans. Fans can be everything an artiste needs to be successful.
For starters, Korede Bello has 1.9M followers on instagram. Something some industry veterans can’t boast about. What makes it better is that his fans cut across Africa and Europe. Honestly, home fans may disgust his efforts but surprisingly his foreign fans are the major reason he is still cashing. Korede Bello goes on a good number of tours outside the shores of Nigeria without an album to his name.
Nigerian fans can be very disappointing, how? They have failed many artistes when they needed them most. Nigerian fans are not good very good with voting their favorite artistes to win awards. Same way Wizkid core fans who you would think should be Nigerians made him loss an award (MTV EMA – Best African Act) to Ali Kiba from Tanzania. That should have been cake for Wizkid but they failed him. MTV EMA explained that category was based on votes and Tanzanian Ali Kiba’s fans came through.
In a simple synopsis “Bellovers” (a coinage for his fan base) are the reason Korede Bello flourishes on YouTube, with very enviable impressions. None of Korede’s class mates in music are near his YouTube views. By class mates I mean Reekado Banks, Lil Kesh, Kiss Daniel, Di’Ja, Adekunle Gold and even some senior colleagues.
Korede Bello has over 35M views on five of his videos; “God Win”, “Romantic”, “Mungo Park”, “Do like that”, “Laye”. “Do like that” audio on YouTube has nearly 5M hits. It’s safe to say Korede Bello is Nigeria’s music prince of YouTube. I can argue those numbers had little to do with his Nigerian fans. Remember he performed at MTV MAMA 2016 without entourage or back up from his label.
Bellovers worldwide are the reason Korede Bello is winning and smiling to the bank. Bellovers always got him.
