It took 5 months for another single by Runtown “For Life“, to drop after a highly successful “Mad Over You“.
Perhaps you have to take the time to savour your success and let it sink in before you lash out for some new adventures. This is one good practice the self-acclaimed ‘Sound god’ has applied himself to. And then he also knows he doesn’t have to abstain from making and releasing new music for too long, lest he soon forgets the rules on how to make a hit.
“Mad Over You” has received enormous adoration to the moon and back; and most importantly raised the stakes for Runtown. The standard has been put a notch and another notch higher.
Here we have Runtown “For Life” for cross-examination.
For Life is simply a blend of previously successful tunes with the same sound. Better said the song is a sequel to MOU. A good pair of ears would easily detect more similarities than disparities on the track. I dare you to sing For Life without feeling that MOU vibe lingering over it. Probably you would mix up a few lines.
In demand music producer, Krizbeatz is credited with the production. The music producer finds it easy to churn out a beat with DNA traces of both MOU and Diana. Both songs have been successful before now. That would make for a good template to weave a new hit, right?
It’s easy to notice Runtown’s songwriting skill on this new jam. The lyrics seem to continue the story he has been trying to tell us in his previous works MOU and Sarkodie’s Painkiller. The storytelling is interesting by its sheer simplicity.
Runtown’s “For Life” is “Mad Over You” Part 2, but we don’t care because it’s a trending sound and it’s banging. He wouldn’t be the first artiste to use very identical sounds to make back to back hits. The song should see music chart success.
Take a listen.
