A Lufthansa Germanwing’s plane has crashed in a remote area of France today and all 148 passengers and crew on board are feared dead.
The Airbus A320 bound for Dueseldorf from Barcelona is said to have crashed about 52 minutes after takeoff.
An executive of Luftansa in a statement to the press via Twitter said “we do not know yet what has happened to flight 4U 9525. My deepest sympathy goes to the families and friends of our passengers and crew”
The crashed A320 is 24 years old.
This is the first airline crash on French soil since July 2000, when a Concorde plane crashed just outside Paris.
