#TheMOBsPick  is in its fourth week already and I am so excited to share my choice with you.

 Check it out:

  1.           Jumabee – Mango

JUMABEE MANGO vid art_edit

Mango maintains the Number One spot for the second week. Although the video, which was released last week, was a let down, Mango is still a special JAM!

  1.          Aramide – Iwo Nikan

Aramide_Back_Cover_New

Aramide makes her debut on TheMOBsPick for this week at Number Two, knocking Johnny Drille to third place. Aramide seems to get better with each release and  Iwo Nikan is no exception. The song is beautifully written and the production is a delightful work of art (Shout out to Olaitan Dada). I love this song.

  1.            Johnny Drille – Awww (cover)

Art-New-4-1024x680

Johnny Drille moves down one step to Number three on this week’s chart. It’s a rarity for a cover to be as good as the original record, but here is one of those rare cases. This is an awesome rendition of D’ija’s ‘Awww’ – the best cover so far.

  1.            Cobhams – Do the right thing ft Bez

cobhamsI won’t say that I’m absolutely crazy about this song but hey, it’s Cobhams, and in my books, he can’t do wrong. Good song.

  1.              Eddie Izycs – Celebration

Eddie

It’s been a while since I saw a young man this deft on the keyboard. The fact that he is having a go at the music industry makes me even more excited. Celebration is a beautiful Jazz construct and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. Brilliant piece.

  1.            Pherowshuz – Mc hammer dem

MC Hammer Dem Artwork

Mc hammer dem is a motivational tune by Pherowzhuz, who is encouraging everyone to keep on keeping on with his heartfelt words. The production has character and Pherow’s delivery is praise-worthy. I like!!

  1. Mystro – Awww (cover)

Awww-Cover1-mp3-image-700x357

Awww is turning out to be the most covered Nigerian song in recent years. It’s indeed a beautiful song and Mystro refuses to be left out of the party by pitching his rendition of the song. Mystro’s version of Awww comes across to me as overkill, yet one cannot deny the effort on this joint and the genius of the man Mystro.

  1.    Korede Bello – GODWIN

korede

After the first listen, I was hooked. This song resonates deeply with our common desire to overcome life’s challenges and prove haters wrong. Although Korede’s singing wasn’t mind blowing, it was enough to do the job, and Don Jazzy’s signature player-coach back up vocals was a welcome embellishment too. Good song.

  1.        Burna Boy – Rockstar

burna

Although ROCKSTAR fell to the Ninth position this week, Burna Boy is still in a class all by himself. I love the concept of the song, I appreciate the song writing and delivery, but I can’t help feeling that the general sonics of the song detracts from its greatness. I also think the song could have been better arranged to give a little more oomph to the chorus. But it’s still a brilliant song.

  1.        Emmy gee – Champagne showers ft King Jay

EMMY GEE - Champagne Showers(1)

Emmy gee doesn’t drop the best flows but he sure jumps on some of the nicest beats. Shout out to ILLKEYZ for an awesome production. Champagne showers is easy on the ear.  You could totally drive around with this one. Nice.

Keep listening to good music.
