Following on from his breakthrough single “Bamidele” featuring the legend that is 2Face Idibia last year, Abdulala – real name Abdulmalik Usman – returns in 2015 with his massive new single titled “Shegege”. Presented by MSMG/Bee-Invisible Entertainment in collaboration with Prince Kazeem Eletu Odibo’s Royal Entertainment, “Shegege” is produced by Sage Kwality and is the first of many singles to be released by Abdulala, who was formerly a member of ground breaking Nigerian vocal group Black Tribe.
Speaking of his new single “Shegege”, Abdulala said, “people who know me, know I can sing but it’s more than that now, it’s also about making music that people can dance and have fun to as well as teaching new fans about our African culture whilst reminding old fans of what makes us who we are. ‘Shegege’ is exactly for that, It’s a song I made, encouraging waist movements in the clubs, parties and on the dance floors, as a tribute to how traditional African women danced in the past and I couldn’t wait to share it with Afrobeats lovers around the world”.
Translated as ‘move your waist’ in English, Abdulala’s “Shegege” is a glorious dance record which fuses modern Afrobeats sounds with traditional Highlife sensibilities to create an infectious jam which listeners will not be able to forget after one listen, with lush melodies and an amazing vocal showing from Abdulala. Without further ado, listen and enjoy “Shegege” from Abdulala below. This one is sure to set alight the radio airwaves and club dancefloors in the coming weeks.
