Awards Seasonnnnn!! Yass hunny! I live for this, and believe me, the year started off with a BANG! The Golden Globes brought a wonderful fashion show to the red carpet! Without much ado, let me tell show you how.
- Jenna Dewan-Tatum
The color of this dress is absolutely beautiful! Now, the style is what is questionable. This is not entirely bad, but the pieces in front look like they were pinned up and just started falling off mid-way through. The dress does absolutely nothing for her body, and comes very close to looking maternity. Her loose hair doesn’t look bad, I would have gone with a small neckpiece to bring the look together just a little bit. It just looks a little half-hazard. See, IIII could be Channing Tatum’s wife. Ugh.
- Emma Stone
This is a beautiful, beautiful jumpsuit…. Until she turns around. What is that? I watched the red carpet on E! yesterday and I was so confused. It looks like she had a tail on her left side with a really big ball at the top. I don’t understand it. Everyone was looking to Emma to bring on a fashion statement to this carpet, but alas! This was half a failure; just half because the front looks beautiful. The busyness of the top of the jumpsuit justifies the lack of a neckpiece, and the pockets are beautiful. But that satin piece just hanging down the left back is awkward, ugly, and out of place. It just ruins a perfectly fine outfit.
- Kate Mara
What is that belt? I thought we stopped wearing belts like these in 2009, and that is just street style. I doubt these have ever been acceptable on the red carpet. I am very close to positive that this belt was added on this dress to conceal something at the last minute. It is very odd – style, colour and all. I would replace this with even just a plain satin belt. It looks hideous. Her hair looks “unplanned” like the hairdresser knew what she was doing but then it somehow turned out like this. lol The dress itself isn’t half bad. But that belt is the devil on this bruh.
- Amanda Peet
Rubs hands together. This looks like country farmer and modern boho combined. Like, just tie a scarf round her neck and give her some cowboy boots son. First off, what material is this? I can’t even tell if it is supposed to be transparent or not. And the hemlines on the sleeves are nonexistent or just tucked in? Being confused by any garment is hardly a good thing, and this really confuses me. I can’t even tell if it is supposed to have pleats on the sides. This is no way to start the year. Material = fail. Style = fail. Fit = fail. Because of such a deep neckline, I would’ve worn drop earrings or hair down. I hate the hair, but her make-up looks nice.
- Lena Dunham
Sigh. I would be grateful if she didn’t even make it to any list at all, but Lena doesn’t fail to secure her spot on the worst dressed list. This makes me particularly sad because this is a Zac Posen dress! Zac Posen!!! I’m sure his eyes were just as sore as mine, if not more, when he saw this walk the carpet. The style of the dress is beautiful, but the fit is terrrrriiibblllee. When you have a slightly heavier build, you don’t want to wear anything that makes you look wide. This dress gives her no waist, therefore instead of the dress taking the shape of her body, her body takes the shape of the dress. Bad is the only way I can describe this. Also, I have nothing against tattoos, but covering it up for the carpet wouldn’t have been so bad.
Now the part I loveee!
- Kate Hudson
The first thing I said when I saw this was “flawless!” Kate Hudson IS flawless child! This dress is beautiful. Her hair pulled back is so perfect because the cut of the neck on this dress is beautiful and shouldn’t be covered. Ordinarily, I would think this to be a tad bit too much skin for the red carpet, but she makes it work. Her body looks great and that neckline is so perfect. She looks amazing. Just amazing.
- Felicity Jones
Now, there are many dresses I love on the red carpet that I would never put on in a million years, but I WOULD snatch this up!!! I absolutely love this dress. No skin, and she looks beautiful! Everything is perfect. The details in the pleating on this dress are so amazingly well done. Look at how her breasts still have definition in such a high-necked dress. Her body is flattered in all the right places. The side swoop in her hair is lovely, and small earrings were definitely the right pick. Against her skin tone, this dress is also the right colour. Everything is beautiful.
- Jennifer Lopez
J.Lo can do no wrong. I mean, look at her! She looks better than me, and I’m 24 years old. This dress is by one of my favourite designers EVER – Zuhair Murad. Apart from my obsession with Lebanese men, Murad sends some of the best looks down the runways, and this is no disappointment. I have also not seen anyone that wears high slits as well as Jennifer Lopez. No one. The back of this dress flows like a cape and that’s where the train comes from. Her careless hair and drop earrings work because the neck of the dress drops low. Simple shoes don’t take anything away from the dress, and that’s just what she needed. This is plain gorgeous.
- Chrissy Teigen
Zuhair Murad was definitely the designer of the night. Ya heard? Look at Chrissy! The detail in this dress is impeccable. The illusion of light and shade that the beading (I think it is) in the dress creates is genius. Not many ladies wear pony tails on the red carpet but Chrissy takes the risk and it looks okay. I wouldn’t say it was the perfect hair do, but it doesn’t look half bad. Tiny earrings are winner since her dress is so busy. She looks fabulous, and I will admit I struggled a bit with not giving this the winning look of the night. It was that good. Sheer perfection!
- Catherine Heigl
This STUNNED. Everything about this look makes me happy. Catherine didn’t really wear my fav looks on the carpet last year, but she started this year off leading the pack! This is another dress that I definitely would wear. The colour is so royal, so red carpet, so elegant, so chiq. The cuts on the midsection of the dress bring in her waist and accentuate her hips. I love a dress with a train in the front, and this front train is actually pulled up a little bit in front which makes the gathers defined and just beautifulll. Nothing is wrong with this. I also love that the train stretches out a little longer than most on the carpet last night. Like I said earlier, I struggled between Chrissy Teigen and this for the win, but this dress just brought in the awards spirit so perfectly, it had to win! Yassss, hunny!
Notable well-dressed – Kerry Washington, Gina Rodriguez, Heidi Klum, Reese Witherspoon.
