The Looks We Liked and Disliked At The Sound City Urban Blast Festival

So it’s hard to judge looks that are supposed to be dressy and casual at the same time. You can never be overdressed though, only underdressed, or inappropriately dressed. So in a bid to make this work, I have decided to go with looks I loved, looks that were in the middle of love and hate, and looks that just totally missed it. Let’s see if you agree! Here it goes.

Looks I Loved

Tiwa Savage

Her performance look with the destroyed jeans and the collared shirt was so perfect. Ripped and destroyed jeans/pants have made a strong entrance into the fashion world. Celebrities, fashion bloggers, personal shoppers, me, your best friends sister… everyone is wearing destroyed jeans, be it a threat pulled out, or a hole the size of a soccer ball; boyfriend jeans, or well-fitted female jeans. They can be dressed up or dressed down, and there is so much you can do with them to spice up an outfit. I am unable to see Tiwa’s shoes, but I am pretty sure they aren’t heels above 2.5 inches. Altogether, the styling of these pants is on point.!

I absolutely loved this outfit! This was undoubtedly the best dressed person! I don’t know if it’s the rose printed shirt, but everything about this outfit worked so nicely (although wearing glasses underneath the chin is THE most annoying way to wear glasses ever. Ugh) But he was ready though. The pants are ironed to perfection. The reds on his shirt and shoes match way too good, and the style of his shoes were the right choice. A black watch as opposed to gold or silver was genius. Altogether, VJ Adams looks great! I love it. Love love love it.

Looks That Were Okay

This is a great improvement from her last sheer dress that drove her right into the worst dressed list (Channel O Awards). It is definitely still not there yet, but we’re getting closer. Now there is no major wrong with this look. The pants are a great length, and pairing this with a crop top that has some sheer cuttings is genius. It gives the outfit some edge. Wearing short hair was a smart decision – just for the entire look, but also because her neck-piece is bold. Now, the hair could’ve looked better. Bangs kinda have to sit right around the brow line or they look a little off, and hers do look a little off. The bounce in the bob is also not the best look. Her hair just looked rushed. Finally, this jumpsuit is clearly not ironed (look at the material from her knees down).

I don’t know if it is just me, but clothing that have some certain words on them are reflected as cheapened. The word “BOSS” is definitely one of those. It just makes the outfit look like it was 10 bucks at the thrift store. Now don’t get me wrong – its not about the cost of the outfit. People wear thrift store shit and it looks like a million bucks. This outfit is not particularly bad, but take out the “boss” on her skirt and it would look SO much better. Also, the fit of both pieces is a tad bit off. I don’t know if its the material but it could be. There is so much going on where the skirt and the crop top meet at her midsection too. It is all around not a bad look, but it could definitely look a lot better than it does.

Looks I Disliked

Emma Nyra

Those shorts girl, those shorts. Just No. Those shorts do not look like they are made to be high-waisted. When you wear shorts or pants and pull them way too high, you get all the “v-shaped” lines. All she needed to do was pull the shorts down and wear them on her actual waist, and this would have been a hit. The accessories didn’t work too well with this outfit either and I cant decide if they are too much, or just off. Miss Nyra’s outfits usually don’t hit or miss. They are always somehow just in the middle. This one however, is a miss.

What on God’s green earth are those shoes? Her hair and make-up are so on point and I love that, but everything else is totally off. The skirt looks a size too small. Or wait. Scratch that. Her skirt IS a size too small. The way it fits makes her mid section look “large” because it is so tight. Bold jewelry always makes a statement with an outfit. However, you wear one piece of bold jewelry, and lighten everything else up, so you don’t look like a walking Christmas tree. Her neck piece is bold, and her bracelet(s) is pretty bold too. And she got on a watch and more bracelets. It’s just way too much. This would be the worst dressed of the night.
