President Goodluck Jonathan has cancelled an earlier scheduled meeting with the parents of the missing Chibok girls which was supposed to be held today. The meeting was cancelled last minute without any warning after he had agreed to meet with 12 parents and five girls today.
In a statement, Jonathan said the #BringBackOurGirls group should be ashamed of manipulating “the victims of terrorism”
Here’s the statement:
“Unfortunately, political forces within the Nigerian chapter of Bring Back Our Girls have decided to take this opportunity to play politics with the situation and the grief of the parents and the girls. They should be ashamed of their actions. Those who would manipulate the victims of terrorism for their own benefit are engaging in a similar kind of evil: Psychological terrorism.”
The girls have been missing for 91 days, and there have been reports that some have escaped on their own, but those reports were refuted.
