Report: Nigeria Super Eagles Cancel Training Session Over Appearance Fee Dispute

And so it happens again with yet another one of our African countries.

Reports coming from multiple sources have it that the Nigeria squad has cancelled their training session set for today due to a dispute over World Cup appearance fees and bonuses. Apparently, the bonuses were not met.

Prior to the beginning of the World Cup, players and officials agreed on bonus amounts if the Super Eagles were to advance to the Knockout Stage and it seems that this agreement was not met. The reason being that only a certain amount of money was made available in Brazil.

General Secretary Musa Amadu has reportedly left Brazil to travel back to Nigeria, and arrange for the payments to be made, but is not due back in Brazil until after the Round of 16 match against France.

The squad is scheduled to leave for Brasilia on Friday ahead of their match against France on Monday but there is no indication that they will threaten to boycott the match.

Sports correspondent for ESPN and KickOff Nigeria Colin Udoh reported via his twitter account the developments and cancellation of the scheduled training session

The Ghanaian squad had a similar dispute a few days ago over appearance fee for the World Cup.
