I know I haven’t done this in more than a week, but forgive me.
WizKid – Joy
This tune is a different speed for WizKid, and is somewhat a not so typical WizKid joint, but it works.
For starters lyrically, it’s one of WizKid’s better joints (that doesn’t say too much) as he has more of a message in the song, and doesn’t repeat the same lines over and over again. The beat (thanks to Dokta Frabz) and melody of the song work very well for the message. Reminds me of a old school lucky dube song with a political message, except of course this doesn’t have that.
Overall it’s a song that might not be the mainstream hit, but will be a favorite for his fans. More than any of his previous songs, this one could actually be played 7 years from now and still make sense.
Simi – Tiff
Simi is one the more underrated singers and songwriters in Nigeria right now, but with time all that will change. Her songs always bring a breath of fresh air.
Tiff is no different. The musical composition starts off very simple but gradually increases in complexity and blending that with Simi’s soft and innocent voice, the song gets better and better as you listen. Lyrically it’s on point also.
Only slight downside is the quality of the production. It seems like the sounds are not as clear as it could’ve been, but you have to listen pretty well to notice. Besides that it’s solid joint, and is already in the playlist.
