Yes I know, I know. It’s been forever. I really have no excuse really. Busy busy schedule, lack of focus, and all other things but ultimately no excuse really. Now that I’ve apologized, you have no choice but to forgive me. Yea?

Anyways today I’ll be jumping on two joints from the past week. May D’s Tanx A Lot, and Monica Ogah’s Window.

May D – Tanx A Lot

May D has been doing his thing for a while now. He’s had his highs, his lows and mediocre moments, and generally it’s hard to gauge what ‘quality’ category any of his singles will fall into. His new tune Tanx A Lot is another hard one to judge.

The chill vibe/melody from the get go sets the tone for the whole song, and it generally just stays on the same levels throughout the duration of the song. Meaning if you start off liking it then you can rock with it, but if it’s dulling from jump then there’s really nothing in the song that’ll change your mind.

The beat of the song is pretty good, the lyrics are decent, and the melody is pretty average. That makes the song overall, OK. I don’t see it exciting a lot of people that are not already May D fans, but if you’re a May D fans you can easily add it to your playlist.

Monica Ogah – Window

Of the MTN Project fame winners, Monica Ogah is one of the quiet ones. It doesn’t mean that she doesn’t have the talent that the others have, it just means thatshe’s clearly stayed away from the celebrity limelight. Which is a good thing really.

She showcases that talent on this new tune, Window, and from the one set it brings a refreshing ‘slow reggae-ish/dancehall-esque’ melody that will make anyone start having tingling feelings all over the body. Her voice is lovely on it, the lyrics are simple yet meaningful and the subtle energy she brings is great. It seems like she did this so effortlessly without trying too hard. There really isn’t too much of a down side to the song, except that maybe I would’ve liked the bridge to be a bit better with a climax point.

Overall it’s a solid song that should get plenty of spins on the radio, and hopefully gain her some more popularity among fans. With the right push this could be a popular as Jodie’s Kuchi Kuchi was. It’s in my playlist already.
