Two To Review: Wande Coal – Plan B; Aramide – Feeling This Feeling

Friday! No need for long story, let’s get right into it.

Wande Coal – Plan B

Wande Coal slows it down for his latest single, and takes it to retro 90s RnB. The whole idea of the song is to create the love making vibe (from a side dude), and get us in that valentine’s day mood. Very creative move considering what the current trend is.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t work as well as I thought it would. The song just comes off a bit as a forced issue, and might have been better off being an album filler as opposed to an official single. The random auto-tune portions didn’t help either. When I listen to Ololufe and then this, I see a huge difference.

Nonetheless, the vocals are stellar (as always), and the beat from Maleek Berry is decent. But I’m not adding this to my playlist. I’ll still cop the album tho 🙂

Aramide – Feeling This Feeling

Aramide is one of the most underrated singers in Nigeria right now, and her voice is in a league of its own. There’s never any denying that she has major talent.

The new single, Feeling This Feeling, is not exactly the best we’ve heard from her. The traditional melody of the song is solid but not outstanding, the vocals are not her best but nice, and the lyrics are solid but not anything to remember. Put together, the song will do well to keep the buzz she has going, and you get the feeling this is one of those that can listened to 7 years from now, and still be enjoyable.

Undecided about the ipod playlist status, but a good effort nonetheless.
