Celebrity Throwback Thursday: Boogey Hits Us With His 5 Favorite Rap Groups From Back In The Day

It’s another thursday and another opportunity to link up with our favorite celebrities to tell us some of their best things from the years past.

We linked up with fast rising star, and one of the fiercest MCs around, Boogey and he shared with us his 5 favorite rap groups from back in the day.

5) Wu-Tang Clan

Straight out the slums of shaolin. RZA, GZA, Method Man, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Inspectah Deck, U-God, Masta Killa, and the late Ol’ Dirty Bastard make up one of the greatest rap groups of all time. If you were a hip-hop head in the 90s, there’s no way you didn’t bump their joints… Heck till now.

A lot of them have gone on to have successful solo careers also.

4) Naughty By Nature

Naughty by Nature is a Grammy Award-winning American hip hop trio from East Orange, New Jersey that at the time of its formation in 1989 consisted of Treach (Anthony Criss, born December 2, 1970), Vin Rock (Vincent Brown, born September 17, 1970), and the DJ Kay Gee (born Keir Gist, September 15, 1969)

You remember the hits O.P.P, Hip Hop Hurray. Yep, who doesn’t? Unless you were born after 1995.

3) Slaughterhouse

Slaughterhouse is a hip hop supergroup consisting of rappers Crooked I, Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz, and Royce da 5’9″. They are currently signed to Shady Records under Interscope.

We wont say they are necessary old school, but seeing as 2008 is almost 6 years ago, we’ll link it in.

2) Black Star

Individually they were brilliant, and together they were twice as dope. Black Star was formed in 1997, from Brooklyn, New York City, New York. The duo is composed of rappers Mos Def and Talib Kweli.

If you ever wanted dope lines, conscious lyrics and real hip-hop (no gimmicks), then this one group you needed to have in your collection.

1) Bone Thugs-n-Harmony

Bone Thugs were the go to rap group of the 90s… catchy hooks, and fast flow and rhyming style. Everyone definitely wanted to rap like them.

The group consists of rappers Flesh-n-Bone, Bizzy Bone, Krayzie Bone, Wish Bone, and Layzie Bone. You can’t go wrong with these dope cats from Cleveland, OH.
