Sunday is here people, and it’s time for my weekly review of 2 joints from the numerous songs released this week. It’s been an interesting week musically and a lot of interesting things have happened.

Without too much story let’s get right into it.

PFizzy – If You Ask Me ft. Erigga

This is one tune that kinda flew under radar, but it definitely shouldn’t have at all. P.Fizzy teams up with Erigga and bring out this jam that beautifully samples Omawumi’s If You Ask Me.

Erigga seriously flies under the radar when it comes to his lyrics. It’s always very raw, honest and real. In this track it continues that trend as you can feel the burn in his voice as he asks “Why you dey always compare Olamide and Da Grin? Erigga & Yung6ix? what’s all this supposed to mean?

Coupled with P.Fizzy’s beautiful sampling, the track is one that anyone can love and feel. The only downside of the track is the bridge where P.Fizzy was singing. It kind of took a bit of a cheesy turn, even though the idea was good. Overall it’s already in my itunes in heavy rotation.

el’Vee – Oga Pata Pata ft. Don Jazzy

The twin group, el’Vee made up of sisters Lillian and Vivian had everything on deck to make a hit track; Sarz, Don Jazzy and the right packaging. It seems like they didn’t need to do much to strike gold on the track.

Unfortunately the song falls short of what I expected. It almost seems like a case of trying too hard really. The beat is exceptional, the chorus is decent, but the lyrics fall way short, and really doesn’t blend well with everything else.

You can tell that the talent is there with these twins and they have the right tools, but somehow something is off on this one, but I do think we’ll be hearing more from them soon.
